The Republic of Vanuatu is a chain of 83 tropical islands in the South-West Pacific, only a 2.5 to 3.5 hour flight from the east coast of Australia. IA short hop over the pacific and we will then be transferred to the beach of Mele, for a short ferry ride to Hideaway Island.
Hideaway Island Resort & Dive:
Hideaway Island Resort and Marine Sanctuary is situated on its’ own private island, just a 5 minute ferry ride from the mainland and 15 minutes from Port Vila. Accommodation includes dorm-style 4-bed rooms, Twin or Double share rooms, and very private Stand-alone Bungalows with verandahs overlooking the sea and private amenities for singles, couples or family groups. All are nestled amongst the greenery of Hideaways canopy.
Our package includes use of the islands kayaks and stand-up paddleboards for venturing out while staying a little drier!
The island bar overlooks the ocean, perfect for a sundown cocktail, mocktail or local Nambawan or Tusker beer.
The restaurant overlooks the islands best snorkelling spot and has (amongst many other things) - Georges famous Curry – you’ve got to try it!
WHY?
The Snorkelling
Hideaway Island is one of the most popular diving areas in Vanuatu and one of only a few resorts in the world, to have its’ own marine sanctuary on the doorstep. The reef in front of the resort is teeming with brilliantly coloured fish and marine life and can be explored by snorkelling or diving straight from the shore. The diving features a variety of colourful sponges, hard corals, sea anemones, gorgonian fans and an amazing number of tropical fish.
Hideaway Resort also boasts the world’s first authentic, underwater post- office, sitting at a depth of 3 metres. Visitors can dive or snorkel down to post their specially waterproofed postcards to friends and family back home.
Our package includes the use of snorkelling equipment, along with a guided snorkel trip to ‘Coral Gardens’.
The Diving
Hideaway’s Dive crew have all dive equipment hire available, although our dive package already includes 10 dives with tanks, weights, dive guide services aboard the dive boat. Equipment hire or extra dives can be opted in and paid at the end of your stay. The local dive sites include coral walls, drop-offs, gardens and some shipwrecks! Some of th favourites have names like ‘Pink Panther’, ‘Gotham City’ & the ‘Bonzer Shipwreck’. Clear waters are common year round, with temperatures usually 28-30degrees

We depart April 21st, returning April 28th. We always recommend ensuring you have a day or two either side available so you can pack at leisure & relax before returning to work on the other side!

What if I'm travelling solo?
We will do our best to match you with an accommodation buddy to suit of the same sex. Many new dive buddy pairs start on our trips! You dont have to spend every waking moment with your roommate - there is much to explore outside, relax on the beach, in the island lounge, play volleyball, swim, snorkel, read, or a favourite - just chill!
